Discovery and Strategy to Delivery

·11 min read

Strategy to execution

Getting from “we have a problem” to “we have a solution in production” requires a clear path. We use discovery and strategy to de-risk that path, then deliver in phases. Industry practice, including guidance from organizations such as PMI, supports starting with clear problem definition and scope before committing to build. For lending and fintech, that means answering “what exactly are we solving?” and “what do we build first?” before writing code or buying platforms.

From problem to roadmap

Discovery answers: What exactly are we solving? For whom? What is in scope and what is out? We produce a shared view of the problem and a recommended roadmap (build, buy, partner, or a mix). That roadmap becomes the basis for phased delivery. Many projects fail because the problem was never clearly defined or because stakeholders had different expectations. We avoid that by making the problem and the options explicit. Our discovery and strategy service is designed for this: we work with you to validate the problem, assess options, and recommend a path. Output is a concise document and a clear next step. No long slide deck; we focus on decisions and actions.

What to expect

You can expect a concise summary of the problem, options, and recommendation. We do not over-engineer the discovery; we focus on enough clarity to decide the next step. Often the next step is a pilot or an MVP, not a full program. A pilot might be a time-boxed build for one product or segment, with defined success criteria. If the pilot hits the bar, we scale; if not, we learn and adjust. This keeps risk and investment manageable. We describe our engagement types and typical investment bands so you know what to expect. Discovery is usually in the $40K–$75K range over four to ten weeks; a pilot might be $75K–$175K over one to three months. That gives you a frame of reference when planning.

Delivery

Once we are building, we align on outcomes and timeline. We work in five focus areas: AI and ML in banking, modernization, advisory and staffing, process automation, and discovery and strategy. Delivery is phased: we do not ask you to commit to a multi-year program up front. We break work into milestones and keep communication tight. Scope changes are managed explicitly so you are not surprised by cost or timeline. Our case studies show how we have delivered for AI-driven credit platforms, ML decision systems, and technology-enabled lending. If you are at the “we need to figure out what to do” stage, a discovery call is the right starting point.

Why this path reduces risk

Discovery reduces risk by validating the problem and the approach before you invest heavily. Phased delivery reduces risk by giving you checkpoints: you can stop or adjust after each phase. And clear scope and change management reduce the risk of runaway projects. We have seen too many initiatives that started as “we need a new underwriting system” and became multi-year boondoggles because the problem was never pinned down. Our approach is to pin it down first, then build in steps. If you want to see how this works in practice, read our case study on an AI-driven credit platform or ML decision systems in production. Both describe the path from problem to delivery.

What this means for you

If you have a lending or fintech problem and are not sure how to get from idea to production, start with discovery. We will help you define the problem, assess options, and recommend a path. Then you can decide whether to proceed to a pilot or build. You do not need to have everything figured out before you talk to us; that is what discovery is for. If you want to discuss your situation, contact us or book a discovery call. We will listen and tell you what we recommend.

Getting started

The first step is a discovery call. Tell us what you are trying to achieve, what you have already tried, and what constraints you have. We will tell you whether we can help and what we recommend as a next step. If a discovery engagement makes sense, we will propose a scope and price. If you are already clear on the problem and want to build, we can propose a pilot or product build. Either way, you will have a clear path. See our engagement types and services for more.
